Coding a forum
I’ve been interested in PHP and MySQL for a few years now. It wasn’t until last year, however, that I finally sat down and learned how to actually do something with it. I created a forum with a few (very small) features that I was pretty proud of. I think it took me about two weeks before I even felt it was worth anything. I ended up dropping it (due to lack of time/interest), and eventually deleted the files.
Yesterday, I started coding a new forum. I’m really liking the way this one is turning out, and things seem a whole lot easier this time around. Of course, that’s probably because I’ve done this same kind of application before. Either way, I’m finally feeling nearly “fluent” in PHP and MySQL, and that’s always something nice. I do have a great deal of difficulty sifting through what other people have coded, though… but maybe that’s just because they have a different “accent” when they code.
